Two weeks ago, the doorbell rang at US District Court Judge Esther Salas’s home in New Jersey. At the door, posing as a delivery person, was a gunman. More disturbing was that the information Hollander had acquired to hunt Judge Salas as well as other potential victims, had been gathered from a series of simple internet searches on Hollander’s home computer.
In a video posted to YouTube, Judge Salas said the gunman who came to her home had easily obtained her families’ information. She indicated that federal judges’ addresses and other information is readily available on the internet and that there are companies selling personal data that can be “leveraged for nefarious purposes,” she says.
“In my case, the monster knew where I lived and what church we attended and had a complete dossier on me and my family.
